Friends, Spooked, &…
Digital Illustrations, set of 2 (so far)
Pokémon’s 30th anniversary was on February 27, 2026.
Pokemon was, and still is, one of the most important games I played growing up with my brother.
The anniversary gave me the excuse I needed to try my hand at drawing my pokémon team.
(didn’t take much convincing)
I went for it.
I initially thought of specific evolutions for these cuties, but… The first evolutions. Little guys.
I really followed my little poké-fan heart with this one.
Very different from my comfortable, charcoal digital techniques. (I strayed from my one-and-only procreate charcoal brush!)
I used pencil (pink), flat color, and the Gaussian Blur tool for this illustration.
My main goal with this piece was to tell a story, a sweet one, dripping with nostalgia from the original games and tv show. My goal technically was to play with the lighting.
(play is accurate. lighting is too much fun!)
Many of my references for this project are taken from:
old pokemon cards (my favorite) and the t.v. show!
Friends
Titled:
Cubone’s friends always come looking for him when he gets lost.
They search together, and make sure he’s okay ♡
I drew this little Nurse Joy sticker with the intentions of putting it on cubone’s skull. But it was too small, and didn’t read well.
Please enjoy it here.
We aren’t finished.
We drew the first evolutions… but… friends…
what about the second evolutions?
Let’s Gooo!
We already know the style we are doing, we just need to evolve our little guys, and tell a new story. And keep playing with lighting.
Like… adding a second light source?
CUE SCARY CAMPFIRE STORIES!
COLOR BLOCK
I had so much fun with this background. Just to cover it all up. Kill your darlings, but then put them in your portfolio, yes?
Spooked
Titled:
And here are the second evolutions!
Charmeleon and Haunter pulled off the perfect scare in time with Marowak’s spooky story.
(Marowak is obviously feeling much better since the last illustration.)
My Pokemon team is in my shop!
